Cross-border vehicle prices: quick answers

Cross-border transfers use a vehicle and driver with Hong Kong and Mainland authorisation to take passengers directly from Hong Kong to the Mainland or back. Flying Eagle offers 7-seaters, 16-seat minibuses and 45/49-seat cross-border coaches , allowing an entire group to cross together, just as with coach hire . The table shows indicative one-way Shenzhen Airport fares from Flying Eagle’s price list:

• 7-seater: before 07:00 or after 22:00, an overtime charge of $200 per journey applies.
• 16-seat minibuses and 45/49-seat coaches: before 07:00 or after 19:30, an overtime charge of $500 per journey applies.
• Waiting is limited to 15 minutes; exceeding this is charged as 1 hour at $350/hour.
• Other destinations, including urban Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Zhuhai, Foshan and Zhongshan, are quoted according to the itinerary.

No refund is given for cancellation within 24 hours.

Price structure

4 elements of cross-border pricing

1. Vehicle type

The price list has three bands: 7-seater, 16-seat and 45/49-seat. Larger vehicles have higher base fares but lower costs per passenger.

2. Direction

Each direction is priced separately. Shenzhen Airport to Hong Kong costs more than the outward journey: $100 extra for 7 seats, $300 for 16 and $100 for 45/49.

3. Time

7-seaters before 07:00 or after 22:00 add $200 per journey; 16-seat and 45/49-seat vehicles before 07:00 or after 19:30 add $500. Larger vehicles’ evening overtime begins earlier, at 19:30.

4. Waiting

The allowance is 15 minutes. Exceeding this is charged as 1 hour at $350/hour. Pay particular attention when flight delays affect airport pick-up.

Festival and holiday prices may vary; multiple Mainland pick-ups and drop-offs are quoted for the actual itinerary.

These exclude overtime, waiting and holiday variations. An early outward trip and late return may both incur overtime.

The closer passenger numbers are to capacity, the lower the average fare. For larger groups, one cross-border coach is often more economical than several 7-seaters.

What should groups of 7 or more choose?

7 or more passengers cannot fit in one 7-seater. To Shenzhen Airport, two 7-seaters start at $1,100 × 2 = $2,200; one 16-seater starts at $1,500, costing less while keeping the group together.

What should groups of 17 or more choose?

Two 16-seaters start at $1,500 × 2 = $3,000; one 45/49-seater starts at $2,000. Above 16 people, a cross-border coach is usually more economical. View vehicles in our Fleet photographs .

Overtime and waiting examples

Example 1: an early flight in a 7-seater

Leaving Kowloon at 06:00 for Shenzhen Airport: $1,100 + pre-07:00 overtime of $200 = from $1,300 .

Example 2: an evening 16-seat journey

Leaving urban Hong Kong Island at 20:00 for Shenzhen Airport: $1,500 + post-19:30 overtime of $500 = from $2,000 . Departing before 19:00 instead avoids evening overtime.

Example 3: a late-night airport return in a 7-seater

Pick-up at Shenzhen Airport at 23:00 to urban Hong Kong Island: $1,200 + post-22:00 overtime of $200 = from $1,400 .

Example 4: excess waiting after a flight delay

The driver has arrived, but passengers emerge 45 minutes late. Exceeding the 15-minute allowance is charged as 1 hour, adding $350. The 7-seater return becomes $1,200 + $350 = from $1,550 .

Example 5: a return study tour with 45/49 seats

Outward at 09:00 and return at 18:00: $2,000 + $2,100 = from $4,100 ; changing the return to 20:00 adds $500, giving a starting total of $4,600.

8 questions for comparing cross-border quotations

Companies present quotations differently, so comparing a single figure can mislead. Ask:

1. Vehicle type and maximum passengers : does the 7-seater carry only 6 passengers?
2. Are outward and return directions priced separately? : what is the combined return fare?
3. Overtime periods : before or after which times, and how much per journey?
4. Free waiting and excess-waiting charges : how is an overrun calculated?
5. Festivals and public holidays : is a separate quotation required?
6. Multiple pick-ups and drop-offs : how are additional Mainland stops charged?
7. Cancellation and postponement terms : how many hours’ notice is required for a refund?

Routes

Quotations for Shenzhen, Guangzhou and other cities

Hong Kong–Shenzhen

Shenzhen Airport has a published indicative fare. Provide exact addresses for Futian, Luohu, Nanshan, Shekou, Bao’an, Longhua, Longgang and other areas. Nanshan/Shekou journeys often use Shenzhen Bay; Futian or late-night trips may use Huanggang.

Hong Kong–Guangzhou

Direct service can be arranged to Tianhe, Baiyun, Panyu, Nansha, Huadu and other districts. As journeys are longer, provide precise addresses and any Mainland standby requirements for an accurate quotation.

Hong Kong–Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Jiangmen

These can be reached via the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge, open 24 hours. The journey from its Hong Kong port to the Zhuhai and Macao ports is approximately 42 km.

Hong Kong–Dongguan, Foshan and Huizhou

Common for factory inspections and business visits. Multiple stops are quoted by itinerary. See route details in cross-border service routes .

The rebuilt Huanggang Port opened at 06:30 on 12 October 2026 with 24-hour operation; passenger clearance at Lok Ma Chau Control Point was suspended at the same time.
